Because of a complete lack of mental health care resources in the region, options for supporting these women were limited. GEMS helped coordinate a program for survivors to learn beading and breathing techniques — medically backed practices to bring healing so that these women can move forward in their lives. We also launched the survivor hearts program, to empower these survivors with the opportunity to create income and business for their family.
