Goat Distribution in Akot Tong Village

With the help of local chiefs, GEMS field operations director Luka Garang Kenyang identified 80 vulnerable and at-risk families in Akot Tong village to receive donated goats. The gift of a goat will provide nutritional value and economic opportunity for these families for years to come.

Many families use the money they receive from selling excess goat milk and male kid goats to pay education fees for their children. Most South Sudanese schools require both education fees and uniforms, which can be a steep financial burden for families who make less than $2 per day. Providing a way for families to make extra money for the cost of education creates sustainable change in the lives of these hard-working families.

Your $75 donation provides not only food for today but is also a lasting contribution to a child’s future when it helps pay for their education. GEMS has seen firsthand the difference a goat can make to a South Sudanese family. It is a gift of hope. Please give today.
